Pure Public Relations believes that great PR should be accessible to organisations of all sizes, with a particular focus on charities and not-for-profits that are on a mission to create a better world.
In line with this belief, over the years we have worked with several animal welfare, protection, and advocacy organisations, using strategic and impactful PR to raise awareness of various important issues.
OUR ANIMAL CHARITY CLIENTS
Animals Asia
Animals Asia is a charity devoted to ending bear bile farming and improving the welfare of animals across Asia.
Pure Public Relations worked on a short-term campaign with Animals Asia that coincided with founder Jill Robinson’s trip to Australia in early 2024. To raise public awareness of the organisation and its mission to end bear bile farming, Jill was interviewed for TV, digital, and print media and penned multiple op-eds on the topic. This approach not only brought widespread attention to Animals Asia’s core message but positioned Jill Robinson as a leader in the animal rights space.
Throughout this short-term campaign period, Animals Asia saw substantial media coverage in top-tier mainstream outlets, including ABC News TV, The Today Show, The Age, The Sun Herald, and more.
Animal Justice Party
Pure Public Relations worked with the Animal Justice Party (AJP) to bring awareness to strict by-laws that banned pets in many apartments and townhouses throughout NSW – an issue that directly impacted people who were trying to escape domestic violence or who require a support animal in their home.
We also worked with the AJP to shine a light on the intrinsic link between animal cruelty and domestic violence while also advocating to end the cruel reproduction process of dogs in NSW.
Throughout the campaign period, Pure Public Relations strategically utilised interviews, press releases, and op-eds to help educate the Australian public on these inhumane policies and bring awareness to causes that were at that time largely unreported.
These campaigns achieved widespread media coverage across digital, print, and broadcast media, including The Daily Mail, The Sunday Telegraph, 7News, The Project, Channel 10 News, ABC Radio, News.com.au, and many more.

Friends of the Koala
Friends of the Koala’s mission is to protect and rehabilitate koala populations throughout the Northern Rivers region of NSW through habitat creation, rescue and rehabilitation initiatives. The organisation plays a crucial role in protecting Australia’s biodiversity by ensuring the conservation of the iconic koala, which was listed as endangered in 2022.
Pure Public Relations worked with Friends of the Koala to raise awareness of the issues facing Australia’s iconic species and advocate for greater funding to facilitate conservation efforts. To do this, we leveraged key events in the media calendar to call for greater funding, such as the Federal and State budget announcements, and highlight the rescue and rehabilitation work of the organisation.
We also worked with the organisation to identify key areas of concern – such as koala breeding season coinciding with busy tourist events – to educate the public about how they can look after koalas in the region.
Throughout the campaign period, Friends of the Koala achieved substantial local coverage across digital, print, radio, and TV. This includes ABC Radio, 2GB Radio, the Gold Coast Bulletin, Tweed Valley Weekly, and The Northern Rivers Times, to name just a few.
Humane Society International Australia
Humane Society International (HSI) is the world’s largest animal protection organisation. In 1994, HSI Australia was established to continue the organisation’s mission of creating a humane and sustainable world for animals.
Pure Public Relations worked with HSI Australia to bring awareness to the significant problems associated with shark nets that resulted in more than 200 non-target species being captured throughout the summer of 2023-24. More than half of these non-targeted animals were killed as a result of the nets, including turtles, dolphins, and smaller sharks.
With these confronting statistics in hand, we worked with the Humane Society to bring public awareness to this issue and advocate for the removal of shark nets to protect Australia’s ocean life. This resulted in widespread coverage and demonstrated the power of PR in ensuring your organisational message is heard.
Throughout this period, HSI Australia saw substantial media coverage across a range of local, national, online and broadcast media. This includes The Guardian, Channel 9 Gold Coast, The Canberra Times, The Herald, ABC News, and many more.
International Fund for Animal Welfare
Pure Public Relations worked with the International Fund for Animal Welfare – a global non-profit dedicated to helping animals and people thrive together – to amplify the organisation’s message and accomplishments in the wildlife conservation space.
The campaign focused on achieving earned media coverage through the use of press releases, media pitches, and interviews to ensure that IFAW’s important work garnered the attention it deserved in mainstream media.
The campaign successfully raised the profile of IFAW’s important wildlife initiatives, reinforcing its position as a leading advocate in the animal welfare space and bringing attention to their conservation work amongst new audiences.
As a result, IFAW achieved coverage across mainstream print, digital, and broadcast media, including 9News, Channel 10, Channel 7, The Project, ABC Radio, The Daily Telegraph, and the Herald Sun, to name just a few.
